7 Essential Blog Traffic Tips

The term “content is king” when it comes to internet marketing is only half the truth. You can have content on your blog and have no visitors simply because you aren’t marketing your site blog properly. Whether you blog for fun or profit, no one wants to write a blog that no one reads. Read on and you’ll learn proven ways to generate traffic fast.

1. In order to get traffic early on in the life of your blog, you need to get some exposure. If you sit and wait for someone to find your blog, you could be waiting a long time. I would recommend trying to get listed in Blog Catalog. Unfortunately they won’t always list blogs with only a post or two, so you may have to just start posting. Try to get 10 posts and then submit to them. Once listed you can search out other blogs to learn from and network with other bloggers.

2. Sign up for Entrecard. With Entrecard, you trade virtual business cards with other bloggers and you will see results ght away. Drop cards on sites with Entrecard installed to earn credits and once you have credits, “buy” and Entrecard space from another blogger. This is something that provided instant traffic. The more active you are at dropping cards and advertising on other sites with Entrecard, the more traffic you will see.

3. Sign up for StumbleUpon. It allows you to network with other bloggers and find new sites that might be helpful to you. It will provide a great start to being part of the blogging community.

4. Comment on other blogs. As you’re reading other blogs and learning from them, leave USEFUL comments. Don’t just say “thanks”, but provide more information on the topic or give your opinion about it. If you comment on blogs that have decent traffic, you will see a few referrals from it.

5. Be realistic and work hard. I know that’s actually two tips, but they go together. Your traffic will be in direct proportion to your effort. Be realistic; Don’t think that you can spend 5 minutes per day blogging and networking and expect thousands of visitors. It won’t likely happen. Spend time networking, reading, brainstorming and writing and you will see results that are in step with your effort.

6. Write something useful. Give your readers something to actually think about, learn from or be entertained by. Make your blog interesting enough for readers to want to come back often. If you have a niche blog, try to know as much about your subject as possible. If you know your subject, you will be seen as an authority as time passes.

7. Post often. No one likes checking out a blog that has no new information. If you set the tempo of everyday posting, keep it up. Your readers will appreciate having something new to read when they visit.
